Your Idols are Having a Killer Time Without You

Do you ever wonder what your favorite celebrities are doing when they aren’t on television or on stage? They are just regular people doing a not-so regular job just like the rest of us. They drink their coffee, watch their shows, and listen to music like you do. And you know what else? They also really enjoy having unique and immersive entertainment right at home.

Why do people like hosting murder mystery dinners at home?

Security and Privacy

When you’re a big name like Sydney Sweeney or 50 Cent, unfortunately you might face some roadblocks to going out in public that most don’t ever experience. From being ruthlessly targeted by paparazzi to adoring fans that lack boundaries, celebrities have a good reason to host private parties from the comfort of their own home.

Control and Customization

When all of your friends are important people with private jets and off-shore bank accounts, it’s hard to stand out. What’s so special about hosting a private murder mystery dinner at home is that hosts are able to control what kind of experience they’re hoping for. First of all, there’s flexibility in planning the event. Anywhere, anytime you want a night to die for, a murder mystery show could happen. Second, we offer a multitude of themes ranging from modern day to prohibition era events, or even themes involving film, special events, or even diamond heists. This gives people freedom of choice when deciding what kind of party they’re looking for.

Decide on key elements

Like any party planning, there are a few key elements one must cover. Simply put, before you even think about inviting people, you need to know:

  • When you’d like to host a party
  • Where the event will take place
  • What kind of budget you’re working with

Talk to a Private Event Planner

At The Murder Mystery Co., we provide free entertainment planning services for all of our clients. It’s best to give us a call when you have an idea of the basic details, and we can help you figure out the rest. Not only can our professional party planners tell you all about how our shows run, but they can also give you helpful tips and tricks for your event so your guests leave with positive memories surrounding your party.

Book your party and invite guests

Your private event planner will help you book your show with a 50% deposit and set you up to talk to one of our consultants to finalize the details of your party. While you’re waiting for our team to work our magic, it’s best practice to start sending out invitations. Although we offer free invitations on our website, we found making your own can be fun! Just remember to list the date, time, location, and theme of your event, and you’ll be good to go!

What to expect at your at home murder mystery party

Typically, actors will arrive at your home or the location of your private event an hour before guests are set to arrive. This gives time for us to set up, get into costume, and chat with you, the guest of honor. We like to be ready to go before guests start to trickle in. This enables everyone who steps foot into your home to get the full experience. When they enter, we will greet them in character and begin assigning suspects in the crime. You and your guests will be transported into another decade or scenario in which they’ve never been before.

Once the show has started, expect it to last around two to three hours depending on what you and the consultant decided on for your event. Each of our scripts are broken down into three acts with two investigation times. This enables everyone to be lead through the story with professional actors while allowing your group creative freedom to add to the experience. Each person imagines their assigned character differently, giving your group room for personal interpretation. This is how we are able to make each show unique and memorable for every person involved.

By the end of the show, chances are that someone from your group has solved the crime. After the third act, we will begin breaking down the mystery and finally grant awards to those who did the best (or worst) detective work.
