Ghostbusters of New Orleans Fan Film to Premiere Aug 14, 2025

Grand Rapids, MI, August 14, 2025 – American Immersion Theater will premiere Ghostbusters of New Orleans, a fan-made short film, at Celebration Cinema North on August 14th, 2025. The screening will take place just before the original Ghostbusters (1984) plays for a crowd of around 70 moviegoers.
How it Started

It all began with a pitch on ABC’s Shark Tank. On March 15, 2024, The Murder Mystery Company—an arm of American Immersion Theater—appeared on national television. That’s where AIT founder Scott Cramton met India Palmer. “We like to say our first date was Shark Tank,” India said. “After the pitch, I remember he did a happy dance. That’s just Scott—he was so thrilled.”
What started with a handshake on set quickly became a whirlwind romance. Less than a year later, the couple tied the knot in May 2025, hosting a wedding that was just as immersive and offbeat as the theater company they both love. From a magician and stilt walkers to live poetry and interactive games, every moment of the celebration was designed to surprise and delight. As part of the festivities, Scott and India premiered a private short film they had produced together with friends: Ghostbusters of New Orleans. The original version—filled with inside jokes and personal references—was screened during their wedding reception.
Adaption

In the months since, the film has been re-edited for a wider audience. American Immersion Theater’s chief videographer, Chris Vang, led the adaptation process. “We trimmed the couple-specific stuff and leaned into the fun,” Vang said. “We ended up setting a doll on fire, used buckets of slime, and even convinced a ton of strangers to be extras.” Vang has collaborated with Cramton on many projects through AIT, including last year’s The Grinchifier (2024), and brings a distinct visual style marked by vibrant color, sharp contrast, and bold lighting. He has also worked on major productions like God’s Not Dead 2 (2016) and The Watchers (2022).
“This is the most polished short film Chris and I have ever created,” Cramton said. “It’s the first time we’ve used CGI to this extent in an AIT film, and I can’t wait to see how the audience responds to the production quality.” Although the short film was born out of Scott and India’s love story, their goal was always to make something fun and entertaining for everyone—just like the original Ghostbusters.
