It has been a little over 90 days since The Murder Mystery Co’s appearance on ABC’s Shark Tank. Here’s how things have been going since then!

SCOTT CRAMTON
Before
When the news about Shark Tank was revealed to everyone at Headquarters, a few people had been with the company for a decade, a handful for several years, and some for only a few months. Despite the experience gap, each person knew the impact that something like Shark Tank could have on both the future of the company and their individual careers. Shelby Stremus, the COO of American Immersion Theater, had been with the company for nearly 7 years on March 15, 2024 when ABC’s Shark Tank aired The Murder Mystery Co’s pitch. Before the staff watched the episode, they gathered in the conference room for prescreening speeches, awards, and a very rare glass of in-office champagne. Shelby raised her glass to give an unforgettable speech that will forever be cemented in AIT history.
Shelby’s Speech
“On this memorable occasion, I can’t help but reflect on a life-altering day we all experienced – March 13, 2020. Thirteen of us in this room were here on that day, navigating through uncertain times, trying to grasp the magnitude of the situation unfolding before us. It was a day and a couple of weeks filled with plans, day-long meetings, discussions, and fear, as we faced the unknown.
Four years later almost to the day, the last two weeks were filled with plans, day-long meetings, discussions, and some fear of the unknown. But in contrast to the fear we felt 4 years ago, the little fear we have right now has been fueling our excitement and passion as we face the great unknown before us…”
Shelby went on to explain the happenings leading up to Friday, March 13th, 2020 where Scott was attempting to plan a staff movie night. She was hesitant to push the event forward, thinking that then was not the time to plan something fun for the team, but Scott disagreed. She gathered masks and hand sanitizer, and, with reservations, planned the movie night.
“Amid the uncertainty, Scott’s genuine care for us shone brightly. He saw beyond the challenges we were facing, focusing instead on bringing joy to our lives. Scott was at first hand practicing American Immersion Theater’s Just Cause: “We create opportunities that empower people to participate.” Scott created that opportunity 4 years ago for us to participate in because he didn’t know when we would ever be able to participate again. His dedication to this company and its people is commendable. I feel privileged to have worked alongside him for over six years.”
After
Remember us airing on ABC’s Shark Tank? That was only 3 months ago, but so much has expanded within the company already. Scott signed a deal with Jason Blum for 5% of The Murder Mystery Co. From the start, Jason and Scott began working on opening ticketed shows in the United States. The Murder Mystery Co. has now opened 25 venues across the nation and sold out over 30 shows. American Immersion Theater would like to thank ABC’s Shark Tank, Jason Blum, and all of the directors and immersioneers with AIT. We really couldn’t have done it all without you.
If you’re dying to see our Shark Tank pitch along with all of the other pitches of episode 1518, you can catch it on ABC on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 10pm ET/PT.
