This month, American Immersion Theater would like to recognise their Client Retention Specialist, Kala Niles-Barnett. Kala has been with the company since 2023 and was The Rookie of the Year when she started at AIT. You may recognize her from our Princess Party Co. social media where she performs as Anna, Elsa, Ariel, Rapunzel, Snow White, and Aurora. 

Background

Kala lives with her fiance, Jameson, and their energetic dog, Yume (7), in a quiet home in Grand Rapids, MI. Although she is from West Michigan, she lived in Marquette, MI for a few years. It was there where she discovered her love of the outdoors and nature. Before working for AIT, Kala was a retail manager at a few different store fronts, but retail wasn’t ever her passion. Instead, she focused on her flourishing personal life by enjoying the arts, playing piano, and experiencing the world.

Her friend Jo told us “Kala has enriched my life in ways that are hard to describe. She’s such a strong and helpful person, and I can’t thank her enough for all the love and guidance she’s given me over the years.” Kindness and gratitude seem to follow her wherever she goes. Kala loves giving out gifts at the office and is always a great resource for new employees. In her time with the company, Kala has planned the first among many charity events for underfunded schools in Grand Rapids. This was an amazing project that she spearheaded, and because of the success, we’re doing it again. AIT is pleased to have her as a part of the team.

Personal Life

When Kala was a kid, she wanted to be a stay at home mom. Now, she laughs at the dream she once had. To quote Kala, “Kids? In this economy?!” It’s fair to say she’s pretty sarcastic. She did, however, pretty seriously let us know that “elder emo” was never a phase for her. She dawns a few tattoos, some piercings, and a style that screams I-only-have-one-color-in-my-closet-and-it’s-black, but we love her either way.

Still, she loves being a princess and bringing joy to people on our social media pages. On top of that, she has a deep love of music and the arts that help her tremendously with her career as both a party planner and a princess.

Outside of work, Kala likes to playing video games, take Yume for walks around town, and traveling with her sister. If you’re wondering where to find Kala online, you can often see her as one of her many princess characters on Facebook or Instagram.
